Latest CC is from GSA champ show 11th of April where this photo was taken too. Antti is 10 years old now - who would believe?

Today we had the big int show in Turku: 18 Curlies were entered BOB was Anatnaq Benwick, but Best Bitch was JV-08 Caballus Black Velvet and 2nd best dog Caballus Astrakhan. These were the only two dogs of my breeding entered!

20.10.2008 Picked up Cormorant on Friday - at 8 weeks age. He is just lovely!
29.9.2008 Two Caballus dogs: Oscar and Ukko Noah have been really successfull in cold game working test yesterday. Both performed in the highest "Winner Class" - and it resulted in Oscar getting a second and Rölli a third prize. This was Rölli's first start in Winner Class! Congratulations for the expert handling and training of these two dogs, Sari Lehtonen-Lammi!

*14.9.2008 The Little Fellow is doing great and is a Big Boy at 3 weeks, 3300g.
*24.8.2008 A very special curly puppy has been born on August the 22nd. Racycurl's Fram Til Caballus gave birth to one black dog puppy. The puppy's sire is Aust Ch Blazeaway Bowser. This is the second time Freya does Curly history by producing progeny from frozen semen to a dog that has lived over 20 years ago. Bowser was the #1 Curly in Australia in the -80's. His first son was imported to Finland in 1989 (Blazeaway Out for a Duck) - this dog has had big influence in the Finnish Curly breeding.

*19.8.2008 We have been to Finnish Curly Club Working Championships in Rantsila 16-17.8. It started with Open Class (2 Curlies) and Winner Class (5 Curlies) on Saturday and Beginner Class on Sunday. Hasse was entered first time in Winner and this was his first start in 3 years - with not much training :-) - but he did very well, resulted in third prize and finally he was 3rd best Curly in the Chapionships!

Otzo started in beginners on Sunday. We decided that he would be handled by Hilkka Lindberg (owner of Otzo's mother Freya). Unfortunately Otzo got very confused of the croud of spectators and his "new" handler - so his performance wasn't what we expected and they interrupted the test.
This weekend we got very good news from Ucraine - Caballus Black Pearl (Holly) - was BIS-junior and BIS-2 at an all breed national show

*14.7.2008 Finnish Curly Club Weekend had a super ending with Hannie's Caballus Kingfisher winning BIS!
The weekend started with Retriever Working Test (this certificate is needed to
gain any Champion titles or to enter to real cold game working tests). The
minimum age to participate is 8 months. The Otzo x Alli litter turned 8 months
on the day of the test: 10.7. Tytti (Caballus Black Velvet) had a go and it was
fantastic performance with very sponaneus retrieves with all game both from land
and water and at the end tracking the rabbit. She is such an AMAZING LITTLE
RETRIEVER!
From all 6 Curlies entered to
this test only 2 passed, the other one to pass was Hannie's 4-year old Darwin.
We had training sessions the next day and the other littermates showed same
attitude to retirieving -some of these got to retrieve game first time in their
lives but it was no problem at all. I am so pleased with the working enthusiasm
in these Black- littermates.
The Club Show on Sunday the 13th had the biggest entry our club ever had: 24 puppies and 70 adults entered under Australian Jamie Hubbard. Caballus did very well again..... Int, GB, S, N, DK, NL, D, VDH, LUX, Port Ch, WW-00,01,02, NW-04 Caballus Kingfisher added one more crown and title to his long list of merits. Andy was showen in excellent condition at 10 years of age and that resulted in both Best Veteran in Show and Best in Show! Best of opposite sex was Caballus Yuhellus from intermediate class. *14.7.2008 Back home from the World Show and Circuit shows in Sweden and
recovering from the Finnish Curly Club Weekend in Tuorla! Had great success in
all of these shows. First show was Swedish Curly Club Speciality on Friday the
4th judged by Hannie Warendorf, Holland. Hannis choice for BIS amongst 51

On Friday we showed again at the Circuit show which was the Spaniel and Retriever Club Show under Norwegian judge Eivind Mjaerum. Caballus breeder group placed 4th Best in Show.
At the World Show all Winner -titles came to Caballus dogs and Xeon got his 3rd CC in Sweden which made him Swedish Show Champion. Breeder group was again BOB.
Caballus Aboriginal was Junior WW-08 and Best Junior of Breed.

*15.6.2008 The successfull weekend continued on Sunday at the Forssa int show with Jack Russells: 38 JR:s entered and Best Dog was Caballus Pontius Pilatus and Best Bitch and BOB Caballus Peace of Cake, in her first show at 11 months of age!!! Judge: Mr. Francesco Cochetti, Italy.
*14.6.2008 Several excellent show results lately: In Southern Counties Champ Show the Gordon Caballus Ebonie Adonis went BOB with his 36th CC!!!
Many young Caballus curlies have started their show carreer, Black Pearl in Ucraine- recently placed BIS-2 puppy, Astrakhan and Aboriginal winning BOB and certificates, Qantana Mera BOB in Norway, just to mention a few of the good results.

On Friday the 13th Otzo had his first start in beginner working test - that
resulted in 3rd prize, which made me very happy! He missed the other one of
double markes in water, and some deliveries didn't come in my hand, but on the
whole well done in quite a difficult tets!

*8.5.2008 Last weekend we closed the skiing season for this winter. The
conditions were very special, lots of snow and tracks in excellent condition but
sun shine and temperature +16! 
Elina and Kinine participated in their first dressage competition in 4 years last Sunday - and won the class (36 starting equipage)!
The most well known Finnish all-rounder Hans Lehtinen has published his book about his life in the kennel- and show world. In one chapter of this book he is asked if there are any specially good breeders in Finland. And he answers: "Tiina Illukka (Kennel Caballus) breeds Curly Coated Retrievers. The breed is quite small in Finland, but she has absolutely magnificent dogs. Tiina is a good example to prove that even a vet can be a good breeder". Thank you, Hasse, for these kind words!

*6.4.2008 The working test season got started today! We participated with Otzo in the unofficial working test "Pirkan Dummyt" in the Curly team. Otzo did not too bad, his result was 49 points outof 60! In the individual competition this would have ment a 4th place of 40 all breed retrieivers!

The Best result - again was brought by the Gordon - Antti - he was Best Dog with his 35th CC!
*31.1.2008 GB ShCh Caballus Ebonie Adonis is still doing great at 9 years of age. He was placed 3rd in the Pedigree Veteran Stakes Finals -of all breeds in UK.
Antti is the Gordon CC record holder in male Gordons in the UK. He has 34CC:s from different judges. He lives with Mrs Frances Boxall - Laurelhach kennels. I am very proud to have bred this particularly fine boy!
*30.1.2008 What great hunting dogs I have!!! Today Hasse brought me a big hare on our daily morning walk through the forests. Big fresh hare (5kg), apported and brought to me! I said "thank you" brought the game home and now it's being prepared for dinner!

I picked up Alli and the puppies so they are now back at my home. They look very - very nice! I was surprised that no-one has any single white hair anywhere, this is very rare! I will take some photos when the weather gets a little better and I can start getting them used to visit outdoors!
*16.11.2007 Updating this from Australia, at Triseter kennels (thank you Esther for letting me use your wireless broadband!). Alli has whelped on the 10th of November. She gave birth to 10 puppies. They are all black. We have 5 healthy boys and 5 healthy girls, all doing well!

Yesterday I had chance to scan Alli by ultrasound - and she definitely is in whelp and expecting a big litter. All people who have shown interest in these puppies, please keep e-mailing me, because I will me travelling in Australia when the litter will be born, so I'm not sure if I manage to update the web site!
*22.10.2007 Another great weekend for Caballus! At the Finnish Retriever Club Championship show yesterday Caballus Road Runner went Best In Show, total entry over 500 Retrievers. The other class winner were as well from Caballus, Qantana Mera was Best Bitch, Windstopper got the bitch CC, The becoming father - "little Otzo"- got an excellent critic from Hans Lehtinen - and his first CC in his first show! . The line up in dogs was beautiful to watch: Road Runner first, L'Bimbo (Best Veteran) second and Xeon -winner of Open class fourth Caballus Breeder Group was Best of Breed with honours. You will soon see photos on the club web site, so I will just include Afro's BIS-photo (by Ari Kataja) presented with Hans Lehtinen (judge) and Kimmo Nokelainen (president of the organizing club).
This was the 6th Caballus dog to win BIS at this presticious show. No other Curly has won BIS. Previous winners are: Caballus Out For A Blaze, Electra, Fair Dinkum, Grand Slam and Oscar - all International Champions.

*30.9.2007 Excellent weekend for Caballus Curlies in working: Zimzalabim got his working certificate, Ukko Noah (with Sari Lammi) got second prize in and Vagabond (with Erja Kuusela) first prize in Open Class cold game working test. This meas that Vagabond is now qualified for Winner Class, being the third Caballus Curly to compete in this highest class!
*12.9.2007 Caballus Victoria has been mated to C. Zimzalabim! More information on litters page. C. Oscar has contuned his excellent perfomances in cold game working tests: he now has one first and three second prizes in winner class. Three firsts are needed for the Ft Ch -title.

At this same Joensuu int. show L'Bimbo was BIS-2 veteran! On Saturday all breed national show L'Bimbo was BIS-veteran!

*6.8.2007 It is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you that I have lost my dear old dogs, Leevi, Pipsa and Simppa.
They have a special place in our home yard. Their spirit is with all the grand old dogs in the sky. These three Curlies have had a great influence on the Curly Coated breed world wide. They will be remembered by all of us at Caballus for ever.

*8.7.2007 Otzo's mother Freya (Racycurl's Fram Til Caballus) gained today her last CACIB for Int Ch title winning Best Bitch in Piteå int show today in Sweden. She also won the bitch certificate and is now Finnish and Swedish Show Champion.

*12.2.2007 Caballus Road Runner has had a stunning start in this year shows: Group 2 in Turku int, Top DOG Show followed byt BIS-2 yesterday at the Group 8 judges training show where Frank Kane did the breed and Hans Lehtinen BIS.

Quando has got second prize in obedience, special winner class (highest class where 3 firsts qualify for Obedience Ch).
For the expected litters there is unfortunately anything too good report. But we will keep our fingers crossed for Alli (Vicotria)!
Zimzalabim is charming everybody, he earns his own page and will get it for sure when he has time to concentrate for photografing!

Ebonie Adonis ("Antti") has gained Int Ch title in Milan int.
show 26.1.2002 winning BOB and CACIB. Before this he got his Working Trial
award (Very Good) which qualified him for National Championships and working
class. Antti is owned by Ludstar kennels.
