Here are the latest news from Caballus:

Duck hunting season started on the 20th of August. We were lucky to be invited to a very special place in Halsua with Hilkka and Jorma Lindberg. This was a great adventure and Otzo got the opportunity to do the things he was bred for!

Another BIS win for Metzo yesterday!!! at Finnish CCR Club Champ Show under Mrs. Lyn Hunter (Springcurl)-  total entry was 65 Curlies!

Caballus Windstopper has been mated to WW-10 Caballus Cormorant "Metzo". Liver and black puppies expected midway September. Litter page will be updated asap.

Great trip to Sweden and Denmark!

It started on 20.6. with the Swedish Curly Club Show judged by Margarete Bett (Kelsmere) UK. BIS was Ch Caballus Xeon. Metzo was 2nd and Otzo 4th best dog.

World Show 24.6. in Herning resulted in Metzo BOB and shortlisted in Group. He is now WW -10 Caballus Cormorant. Following day he took BIS at Danish Retriever Club Show under Hans Rosenberg, Sweden, and BIS again on Saturday at Danish Curly Club Show.

On Sunday the 20th I participated the DRK official all retriever breed WT with Otzo (C. Zimzalabim). Otzo did a great job and got first prize with 71 points outof 100!

Wonderful weekend 15-16.5! Travelled to Sweden - Skokloster - for the prestigeous Spaniel&Retriever Club Show, and Metzo (Caballus Cormorant) went BIS!!! Judge for the breed and the BIS was Mrs. Carole Coode from UK:  

"20 months black male, superb balanced outline, very good head, eye, quarters front and rear, good depth of rib, good spring and length. Wonderful to see such drive from the rear sometimes lacking in the breed. Exc coat, good legs and feet"

Following day back in in Finland he passed the Working Test (FCI Working Certificate). Also Caballus Black Tracker passed!

This time I have very disappointing news for you: as Olga didn't start to look really pregnant she was x-rayed and unfortunately no puppies were found. So one more failure to the list of frozen semen inseminations.

I will update the litter page soon with some later puppy plans.

Meanwhile - both Otzo and Metzo are entered to the World Show and the circuit shows around Denmark and Sweden. Something to look forward!

Curvy (Caballus Black Swan) passed the  WCX test yesterday at the Nationals in US, way to go! 

Sunday at Crufts 2010 was a good day for Caballus UK: 

Muddy -Ch Caballus Waterman was 2nd Best Dog with resCC.

Antti -the Gordon - Sh Ch Caballus Ebonie Adonis finished his incredible show carreer winning Best Veteran of Breed.

And.........

.........Olga, Muddy's sister, was scanned yesterday. Still very early, but we could clearly see a few small developing puppies!!!

Caballus Waterproof (Olga) was inseminated on Thursday the 17th Feb, so far so good! Exciting next 3-4 weeks before we can hopefully confirm her pregnancy -fingers crossed!!!

Finally something exciting happening! Olga (Ch Caballus Waterproof) has started season and the planned frozen semen insemination with Rebel's (Ch Fairway It's My Party) will take place in about 12 days from today. You can follow the breeding plan also on Kukkasen kennel page.

This weekend we have been taking photos of my dogs for the 2010 Curly World Seminar Handbook. It was not easy because of lots of snow and not too much light. Here you can see Hasse, at 10 years of age! Thank you Tiina and Ari for your help!

Happy New Year 2010!

Having had a nice family get-together Christmas break at Saariselkä, Finnish Lapland. New year started in minus 16 temperatures and lots of snow. Have been skiing and relaxing by the fire, just taking it easy. Not much happened with my dogs. I was judging at the world biggest one day all breed dog shows in Helsinki in December (over 8000 dogs on both days) -so couldn't show any. Metzo spent 6 weeks at Reisjärvi with Hilkka meanwhile we travelled around Australia in November with Viki and Barry Knowles.

Regards from Slovakia! Me and Tuomas had a lovely weekend in Bratislava. I was judging the Slovakian Retriever World Club Show on Saturday and then we watched the World Show Group 8 on Sunday. We enjoyed the super hospitality from the local Retreiver Club and saw some very nice dogs!

Sh Ch Caballus Ebonie Adonis has added one more CC to his credits, this being his 41th. Judge Per Iversen from Norway. Antti is in incredible condition for 10 year young veteran as you can see from these photos:

Another Champion was made up today in Finland: Caballus Vagabond   (Sh Ch Lizallwood Wayvard Lad x Int Ch Caballus Quando) owned by Erja Kuusela. Santtu is Muddy's half brother and brother to GB Sh Ch Caballus Valentino.

Caballus curlies succeeded very well at the Curly Working Championships last weekend: Caballus Ukko Noah getting 2nd in Winner Class and Caballus Waterproof 1st in Beginners. Well done Sari Lehtonen-Lammi and Kati Heiskanen!

Last week I got  Metzo's hip score from kennel club  A/A :)

Metzo's EIC status is "Carrier", he is GSD clear by parentage.

Muddy is now Ch Caballus Waterman! Got his 3rd CC today at Birmingham Champ Show :) Well done Elaine and Anthony!

Muddy is the fifth Caballus Champion in GB.

Ch Caballus Grand Slam "Simppa", Ch Caballus Kingfisher "Andy",   Sh Ch Caballus Valentino "Tino", and Sh Ch Caballus Ebonie Adonis "Antti"

Its Metzo's 1-year birthday today!

Hunting season started on 20th -so time to do some training. We are still on vacation and on our island "Westergrund", still warm and sunny but quite windy!

Exciting news on litters page!

Summerwind's Winter Delight "Nasu" made her show debut on August 8th and got excellent with CC, judging Christian Vantu, Romania. She is 10 months old now, Minna Sinkkonen handling (photo by Marika Simelius).

The Finnish Curly Club Show was on July 25th, judged by Mr. Frank Bjerklund, Norway. Frank is a Curly owner and breeder from years back. Caballus showed the winning breeder group again. Best individuals from Caballus were Qantanamera, 2nd in bitches and my junior "Metzo" in his first show 2nd best dog with his first CC. Finally the web site is functioning again! Since the last update The Gordon Antti has purchased one more CC into his breed male record -that being total of 40 now.

Great news from England: Sh Ch Caballus Ebonie Adonis (Antti) -CC record holder Gordon male in UK - has added one more CC to his incredible list of merits, having now 39 CC:s in total. Latest CC is from GSA champ show 11th  of April where this photo was taken too. Antti is 10 years old now - who would believe?

Caballus Xeon (Iiro) -owned and handled by Heli Raunio- was BOB and BIG-4 in Lappeenranta int show on Easter Saturday. Great to see a Curly getting placed in Group for a long time!

While the others have been out at shows Otzo has had a short break at Reisjärvi. Here he is guarding the Easter bonfires to scare the bad spirits away!

*26.3.2009 It is a great pleasure to tell you about a new Obedience Champion Curly.

This is Int Ch Caballus Quando.

Ronja  is owned and trained into perfection by Erja Kuusela      who also owned and trained Blazeaway Out For A Duck to same title 16 years ago. Both dogs are sired by Aust Ch Blazeaway Bowser. ( As Metzo too! )

On Saturday the 14th we had a nice gundog training day for Curlies here at Caballus. 16 dogs participated - this was a good start for next season!

*26.1.2009 News from Switzerland: Caballus Yukon -owned by Brigitte & Thomas Schaer - is Champion: Deutscher Champion VDH + Deutscher Champion Club. Well done!

*24.1.2009 Otzo x Liina puppies were born last night: 2 boys and 5 girls, all black and all fine! Today we had the big int show in Turku: 18 Curlies were entered BOB was Anatnaq Benwick, but Best Bitch was JV-08 Caballus Black Velvet and 2nd best dog Caballus Astrakhan. These were the only two dogs of my breeding entered!

I have not published some show results from last year: Caballus Black Pearl got Junior Winner Bitch 08 at European Dog Show in Budapest. Heathermead Huxley won Winner 08 in Helsinki, and Otzo daughter Caballus Black Velvet Junior Winner 08.

*10.12.2008 Elmo (Summerwind's Nordic Delight) came for a visit at Pet-Vet - so I was able to take some photos of him. Elmo is owned by Heli and Jukka Raunio.

*7.12.2008 New photo of Cormorant, now 15 weeks and 18,5 kg:

*7.12.2008 We have received two black Curly puppies from US, Doris Hodges. Summerwinds Nordic Delight (dog) and Summerwinds Winter Delight (bitch). Puppies are from frozen semen a.i. and they have been DNA and GSD tested (normal).

30.10.2008 Caballus Black Swan (Curvy) has gained JH (Junior Hunter) -title in US. The talented handler, trainer and happy owner is Milan Hess. Well done!!

Proud father Otzo is having a holiday in Reisjärvi while his little brother is getting settled in Harvaluoto. This is not just holiday, but training ....training ... and training....
