It is extremely difficult to anticipate the distant future. However, the enclosed outlinings are realistic, in my opinion. I intend to continue carefully:
Every now and then, perhaps once in 10 000 years, a star with a developable planet
goes fairly near past from the solar system. Such planet has water and soil, fairly suitable temperature,
the pressure of the gas of the atmosphere is moderate. In the atmosphere there are carbon dioxide and perhaps
a little oxygen.
Before the passing, the planet will be preliminarily cultivated for about 10 000 years for example on the alga plants suitable to accomplish the strong photosynthesis. Before the trip the planet will be cultivated about 5000 years on more complex plants for example on the flower species and kinds of trees and some suitable insects, planktons and fish species. From our solar system the development of the environment is examined with probes left to the planet, which send pictures and facts every year. If satisfying conditions are not obtained, the flight will not be made. The people cannot be sent to a sure death. However, a case can be thought of in which case the circumstances in the solar system are so bad that people must leave for steadier conditions. Then the colony lives in its vessels around a distant stabile solar system utilizing the light, the minerals of the asteroids and the gases of planets.
The cultivation of the planet can be performed so that the our solar system will be sent fusion-operated automatic probes which slow down near the planet to be examined. About hundred smaller parts come off the probe, which slow down in the atmosphere with shields and with parachutes until the big balloon opens. The small probe hovers in the atmosphere of the planet for a few days and scatters down a seed, fertilised roe directed by the artificial intelligence to suitable places in which they can be grown. Big animals can probably only be transported with people.
Before it is really possible to carry out the flights of this kind, the technology and communication must develop greatly and the greenhouse effect of course must run away, which we do not wish in any circumstances. When we consider the technological development of the last hundred years, a comparable jump will be possible at least in the long run. A total destructive war, climate, volcanic, population etc. catastrophes, a political and social change to populist technology and science negative direction can make it impossible. It is however so that the development will proceed in different nations into a turn pace, when the some nations decline, the others will rise to the front row of the development. A more difficult matter will be to create a continuous project lasting for thousands of years and to divide the responsibility over the epochs. A large part of us lives only one day at a time, the planning periods of governments extend only to the next election and the stock exchange companies to the following kvartal.
One must learn to live in the space before the flights. The living must be made easy, comfortable and everyday. In my opinion it is possible only with the help of the hall suggested by me in which the food and the oxygen are produced in a vessel. The controlling of the cultivation and the production of the versatile food are not any easy task, moreover a crop failure, for example viruses can destroy the crop. Another requirement for distant flights is that we learn to fly fast and easily in our solar system and we populate it at least in some extent, utilize asteroids etc.
The migration to the another solar system must be durably and responsibly made. We must send several vessels there for example in pairs like the Swedish ships, then they to some extent protect each other. After the migrants arrive there and ensure about local conditions, new vessels leave for the trip. The colony can be vital only when its size is sufficient and when it gets the fresh material and population supply continuously. It will reach full independence only gradually. This is can take place during the next million years.
the occupation of Milky Way then go?
It takes much more time. All populations do it go not so good, and they go towards barbarian unfortunately. The population in the colonies increases and they drift far from the solar system and many of them will have advanced production, technology, high school education and ethics. Then a group of men and women wants to go to conquer new solar systems. The chain continues and expands to still new stars systems. Adventurers want to have excitement until many far-away colonies are going on another side of the Galaxy in thousand and millions of stars in which case our sun has sucked a our globe perhaps already.
