  • When Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli come across the pile of Orc carcasses, we see Aragorn kick a helmet. Because of that, he broke all his toes in that foot, so he had to do the next few scenes in severe pain and limping a bit! (Source: magazine) - Wormtongue
  • In the wide shots of Legolas, Aragorn & Gimli running after the Orcs, all three performers are running injured. Orlando Bloom had a couple of broken ribs (from a fall off a horse); Aragorn had a broken toe (from kicking the helmet in the Orcs funeral pyre scene); and Brett Beattie (Gimli's scale double) had a knee injury. Peter Jackson said that all three were very dedicated and continued to film the scene, often yelling "ouch" or "ow" after "cut" was called. (Source: imdb.com) - Kelli
  • Stuart Townsend (who was originally cast as Aragorn) was fired shortly after filming began due to "creative differences". (Source: imdb.com) - Kelli
  • John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) is also the voice of Treebeard (Giant talking tree). (Source: http://www.tlotr.com/movie_faq_facts.php) - TAZ
  • The crew for the movie actually built the Golden Hall in Edoras. After the movie it had to be torn down for environmental reasons. For the role of Wormtongue, Brad Dourif allowed the makeup team to shave his eyebrows to add to his sinister look. (Source: Two Towers movie guide and visual companion) - Lotrfan
  • During the filming of the second film, Viggo Mortensen nearly drowned whilst doing a stunt. In the scene, Aragorn was to float down some rapids unconscious. Unfortunately, the rapids were a bit to fierce that day and Viggo was underwater for far too long. He said later that he though he was going to die. That is was one of those moments you read about like, "Wow. This is it. This is the end." Thankfully, our brave Aragorn is alive and well. (Source: Television Special) - Aine
  • If you watch Legolas closely, you'll notice that he never blinks, save for when Gandalf the White whistles to Shadowfax and then he blinks 4 times. It's because Elves don't blink! They don't shut their eyes when asleep and also they tread lightly so they don't make footprints in the ground. (Source: DVD) - Maddi
  • The actor who plays the king of Rohan originally sent in a audition tape for the role of Gandalf but didn't act like he wanted it and wasn't given the role and then for the second movie he did another for the king role and the rest is history. (note: he played Captain John Smith in Titanic). (Source: Entertainment Weekly article) - Tazz
  • Viggo Mortensen is divorced with a son. Rumor has it that his son made a small contribution to the film by playing a small role alongside his father in the Two Towers. (Source: My affliction) - Creek Chick
  • Before the big battle at the end takes place there is a man on the castle ramparts who throws something at the advancing hoards. I am certain (by pausing the DVD) that this is none other than Peter Jackson himself. (Source: Me) - stevo78
    • Addition: "Director Cameo: [Peter Jackson] Wearing chainmail at Helm's Deep." (Source: imdb.com) - Webmaster
